I am currently OPEN to submissions in Romance and Women’s Fiction. I am closed to submissions in Poetry.
What I’m Looking For
I am accepting queries for completed manuscripts with lengths between 50,000 and 150,000 words in the genres of Romance and Women’s Fiction. I am interested in authors who are on board to grow their careers by shipping multiple novels in one genre.
My Wishlist
Romance Series (or Potential for a Series)
- Romance series of books featuring interconnected storylines, or one book with potential for future books. Contemporary only, no historical.
- I enjoy fast-paced romance series or a collection of similar genre/style books with a humorous edge (Lucy Score) and RomComs (Love of My Afterlife). Also tropes like holiday romance, sports romance, love triangle, etc.
Women’s Fiction
- I’m interested in authors who plan to write and ship multiple books in the women’s fiction genre, creating a strong brand.
- Comedy featuring mothers (Class Mom series, Where’d You Go Bernadette)
- Romcom books / escapism (Book Lovers)
- Book club books (Carrie Soto is Back, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Vanishing Half, City of Girls)
- Adaptations (How to Align the Stars)
- Cozy reads in a small town (Debbie Macomber)
- Dramatic storylines with a love/relationship focus (It Ends with Us)
Here are some things I am NOT looking for: historical fiction, historical romance, five pepper spicy romance, suspense, thriller, science fiction, fantasy, young adult, true life stories, biographies, based on a true story, paranormal, or erotica. I am also closed to poetry submissions at this time.
I am open to bittersweet stories as well as feel-good content. In general, it needs to have a good concept and an interesting set of characters that keep readers turning the page.
How to submit
Email a query letter to EgretLakeSubmissions at gmail with the following information included. Do NOT attach content, all text must be inline in the email. Submissions must be previously unpublished, original works.
Email Subject: GENRE – MANUSCRIPT TITLE – AUTHOR NAME – TODAY’S DATE
Query Letter:
- Logline
- Genre and word count
- Short Summary (should read like back of book summary)
- Short Biography
- Contact Information
Please also include:
- Paste the first twenty pages of your manuscript into the body of the email.
- Is this your first novel? If so, have you published writing in any other form, and if so what?
- If you are working on a second book or plan to, please include a two-line pitch of other book ideas in your query letter and let me know what stage of writing they are in (concept, in progress, editing, or finished manuscript).
Due to limited time, every query will not receive an email response although I will do my best! If you have an offer from another editor or agent, please let me know and use the same email subject plus “follow up.”
