Egret Lake Books is a small, indie publisher based in the greater Seattle area that publishes women’s fiction, poetry, fiction, and romance.

Owner and Editor – Tess Jones
After years of working in gaming and technology in Seattle, I branched out on my own to apply my skills to produce books. I founded Egret Lake Books in the fall of 2021, shipping a short book of poetry titled The Year We Stopped: Poems by author Chenelle Bremont.
I have over twenty years of experience producing and marketing video games, technology, and ecommerce products at companies such as Warner Bros. Games, Minecraft, and Target.com. A few years ago I became an official content creator and partner to Microsoft and have designed and shipped over thirty Minecraft downloadable in-game products.
My love of books and writing has been ever present, moonlighting writing magazine articles, writing six unproduced feature-length film screenplays, and completing two unpublished full-length manuscripts in the women’s fiction genre. Dance Teacher Magazine and Gamasutra have published articles I have written, and I also self-published a non-fiction book called Yoga for Birth. I studied fiction at the Issaquah Writer’s Cottage and earned a feature film screenwriting degree from UCLA. I live in the greater Seattle area and am having a great time creating a new company from the ground up.
