Newsletter: Virtual Book Club, Call for Submissions, Romance Novel Update

Fall Reading

Fall is here and it’s a great time to cozy up with a novel. Right now I’m reading Book Lovers by Emily Henry. What are you reading? I’ve started two virtual book clubs. One is for women’s fiction, and the other is for bestsellers. Anyone can join my virtual book clubs. Here are the links to join:

I hesitated creating an Amazon book club for a few reasons. First off, I find it odd that Amazon is moving into the social media space. If you click on the average person’s Amazon profile you will find random reviews for things like jeans or toothpaste. Are we supposed to hide all of our regular product reviews, only review books, and start treating our Amazon accounts like publicly-facing social media accounts? Apparently, yes.

Despite my initial trepidation, I joined a club to check out the scene, and I liked what I found. Book lovers reading and discussing books. Ding! Right up my alley.

I promptly set up two clubs, found some adorable stock images and I was in business with two shiny new book clubs. It’s had a positive impact by getting me to read more and I plan to keep it up.

I’m Open for Manuscript Submissions

Another huge thing that is happening in my world is that I am now officially open for manuscript submissions. If you have a completed manuscript ready for editing, please submit your book! Here’ s what I’m looking for.

  • Women’s Fiction
  • Romance (closed door)
  • Fiction
  • Poetry

More details can be found at egretlakebooks.com/submissions.

Submissions can be made via email. I will also be taking live pitches from authors at the Pacific Northwest Writers Association conference later this month. There will be over four hundred authors in attendance. I will be there in my role as editor hunting for new great stories to publish. If you are going, please look for my table and sign up for a pitch or just stop by and say hello!

My Work-in-Progress: Untitled Romance Novel

My romance novel is in the final editing phase, and I plan to publish it sometime next year. I was recently told that it is an “enemies to lovers” romance. That is exciting since I know there is a huge market for that genre. I can’t wait to share more about this book with you in the coming months.

Thanks for reading and talk to you soon!
