I first read Much Ado About Nothing during high school. Then I watched the Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh movie and fell utterly in love with the scenery and costumes. So when this manuscript crossed my desk, I dove into it immediately.
The story isn’t what you would expect and took various turns that surprised me. At first, I was flummoxed by the plot, holding on too tightly to the story I was familiar with. Upon further reflection, it made so much sense, and I was converted.
I told author Amy Dressler that this book should actually be called Much Ado About Something, and when you read it you will see why. I adore the idea that an old story could be rewritten in an expert way to change the narrative around the female characters involved in its plot.
