The Year We Stopped is an uplifting book of poems tells the story of what we all went through during that first year of the pandemic. First we were blissfully unaware of what was to come and simply living our lives. Then we were isolated and looking inward while leaning on nature and each other. And finally we came out to a place of acceptance and a new way of life.
Chenelle titles the three sections in her book “Unaware,” “Languish,” and “Hope.” Her poems tell her story of moving to a beachside studio right before lockdowns and riots began in Santa Monica, California.
Her poems are often about nature and touch upon love, loss, and more. Themes of the beach, sand, and waves will uplift your spirits.
